Jason Hall was born into the sport of rodeo with his father Kerry a successful competitor, stock contractor and rodeo promoter. Jason started his rodeo career in the Poddy Ride and was runner-up Junior Champion in 1984. He also competed in his first open event, the Open Bull Ride, at the Dalby Rodeo of that year as a 15 year old.

After taking a few years off rodeo in the late 80’s and early 90’s to attend university and play rugby league, Jason recommenced his rodeo career in the Bull Ride and the Bareback Ride events. After qualifying for the National Finals on a number of occasions, the highlight of his career came in 1999 when he was crowned the Bareback Finals Champion of the National Rodeo Association.  He followed this up by finishing Runner-up Bareback Champion in the 2000 rodeo season. With a young family, of four boys, to care for Jason retired from the rough stock events at the end of the 2000 rodeo season and then competed solely in the Steer Wrestling event.

Jason has served on the Executive Board of the National Rodeo Association (NRA) since 2013 and has been the Chairman of the Board since 2016.

A third generation of Hall’s have also left their mark on the rodeo scene with Jason’s third son Clay being a Poddy Ride Champion, Junior Bull Ride Champion, Bull Ride Rookie Champion and Steer Wrestling Rookie Champion with the National Rodeo Association.  Clay also lived in the USA for two years where he attended Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon on a bull riding scholarship and was crowned the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Northwest Region Bull Riding Champion in both years at the college.

Jason’s youngest son, Zane, is also one of the best young bull riders in the country having been crowned the U18 Junior Bull Ride Champion in 2018 and 2019.  Zane has also represented Australia in the USA as the Australian High School Rodeo Association Champion in both the Bull Ride and Steer Wrestling at the World High School Finals. In his first two seasons of open competition he finished in the top ten in the National Standings in both the Bull Ride and Steer Wrestling.

As well as being involved as a competitor and administrator in the sport of rodeo, Jason is also one of the leading Rodeo Announcers in the country, a stock contractor and has been successful rodeo promoter.

Jason is married to Kristie and they have four boys; Ryan, Wade, Clay and Zane.
